In 16 subjects, 10 universities from Iran were ranked highly in the 2023 QS World University Ranking by Subject. SUT advanced 11 places from 255th in 2022 to 244th place in 2023 in the field of engineering and technology.
SUT obtained rankings in 10 disciplines within the subgroups of engineering and technology and also natural sciences. Disciplines in the subgroup of engineering and technology include chemical engineering, civil and structural engineering, computer science and information systems, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, aviation and construction, and petroleum engineering. Subjects of chemistry, material science, mathematics, physics, and astronomy were also ranked in the natural sciences subgroup.
Fields of study like electrical and electronics engineering, chemistry, and physics have improved compared to the previous year; however, petroleum engineering as the most promising subject, ranks 23rd in the world among these subject fields.
QS ranking as one of the most reliable international systems for ranking academic institutions, determines subject ranking via five indicators: university reputation, employer evaluation, number of citations in articles, h-index, and international cooperation.
