On Wednesday, July 22nd, Sharif Science and Technology Park hosted a high-level bilateral dialogue with Portugal’s Taguspark, welcoming Dr. Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark, to Sharif Technology Tower and Sharif Innovation District to discuss avenues for future collaboration.
The session was attended by Dr. Ebrahimi, Deputy of Sharif Science and Technology Park; Dr. Mokhtari, Advisor to the President of Sharif University of Technology (SUT) for Performance and Wealth Generation; Dr. Sadeghi, Dean of Academic and International Collaborations at SUT; and Dr. Jafari, Manager of International Affairs at Sharif Science and Technology Park.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Ebrahimi and Dr. Jafari presented an overview of Sharif Science and Technology Park’s two-decade-long evolution within SUT’s innovation and technology ecosystem. They traced the park's development from the establishment of Sharif Entrepreneurship Center to the operation of Sharif Technology Tower and the broader Sharif Innovation District. They also highlighted the technological capacities and performance of the startup teams and knowledge-based companies currently based in the district.
In turn, Dr. Correia outlined Taguspark’s historical trajectory and technological capabilities, showcasing the achievements of its resident startup teams as well as its domestic and international partner companies. He further elaborated on Taguspark’s pivotal role in shaping Portugal’s innovation landscape and its significant contribution to the national economic climate.
Dr. Sadeghi elaborated on SUT’s broad capacities in education, research, and international collaborations, specifically pointing to existing synergies with Portuguese universities and research institutes. Meanwhile, Dr. Mokhtari underscored the vast international opportunities available to both sides and advocated for establishing a robust network of cooperation between the startups and companies of both parks to facilitate the exchange of expertise and foster mutual development.
Concluding the productive session, both parties formally agreed to expand their communication channels and pursue concrete follow-up actions to solidify this international partnership.
